Searching the Library Catalog: The library catalog is available online at http://library.tccd.edu. Select Library Catalog and follow the instructions provided on the screen. The catalog includes materials for all TCC campus libraries and media centers.

  • If researching a broad topic, search by keyword. You can limit this search to the specific campus library.
  • If researching a phrase, place quotes around the phrase.
    [e.g. "assisted suicide"]
  • Look at the bottom half of the screen for examples and helpful tips on the different types of searching.

Interpreting Your Results: Once you have completed your search and have your results list, check these guidelines to help you locate the book in the library.

  • Check the Library Location:  This tells you which campuses have a copy of the item. Note that the statement "Title has Multiple Holdings" is listed when the material is owned by more than one TCC library. Click on the title to find out which campus owns the material.
  • Check the Item's "Collection": This is to determine if it is in the Circulating Collection, which means it can be checked out, or in the Reference Collection which indicates it must be used in the library and is not available for check-out.
  • Check the Item Status: If the item shows it is "Available" it can be found by the call number given.

Placing Holds: If the book you want is currently checked out, you may request that book be placed on hold for you when it is returned to the library. Click Request on the Library Catalog menu at the top of any Library Catalog page.  You will be prompted to log in, then you will be able to place a Hold on the item and set parameters such as where you want to pick up the item and how long we should hold it.
