Research to argue/persuade: You may use any of the materials or databases the library makes available to you. However, some commonly used databases for this type of assignment include:

  • Facts on File - Issues and Controversies.  To access this database, select "Databases by Title" and find Facts on File alphabetically.
  • EBSCOhost - especially Masterfile Premier, Academic Search Complete and others specifically related to your topic.
  • Gale Group - Opposing Viewpoints Resource Center and the Student Resource Center - College Edition.
  • CQ Researcher - To access this database, select "Databases by Title" and find CQ Researcher alphabetically.

Note: Facts on File, Gale's Opposing Viewpoints Resource Center, and CQ Researcher will provide expert opinion, statistical information, and the pros/cons of an issue.

Note: See Using the Databases - "How do I find the articles I need?" for specific search information.
